Blender to Unreal pipeline tests

We’ve began testing pipeline between Blender and Unreal. Using my teammate Julian’s early Central Station scene, I’ve began tested exporting the scene as an FBX and importing into Unreal.

The first attempt was not successful, and I wasn’t sure why. When I would import the FBX, I wouldn’t get any of the meshes and only the skeleton mesh and materials. However, after experimenting, trying to find a way to get Unreal to read the meshes, I found a button within the FBX import settings when you drag in your FBX. Force All Mesh As Type. As soon as I changed this setting, all of my meshes imported as well.

Everything except for the lights is imported, so I’ll only have to manually adjust some materials for it to look similar to the original. However, with a little troubleshooting, we now have a solid pipeline to send our blender scenes/models to Unreal without issues. I’ll be conducting more experiments soon to see if there’s a way to transfer image texture.
